SRI BHARATI TIRTHA VEDA PATASHALA

Who We Are

With the blessings of Jagadgurus Sri Sri Mahasannidhanam Swamigal and Sri Sri Sannidhanam Swamigal, Sri Bharati Tirtha Vedapatashala began operations on April 20th (Sri Shankara Jayanti day) in Sengottai, a serene town in Tenkasi district in Tamil Nadu. We are a branch of Dakshinamnaya Sharada Peetham, Sringeri. Veda Patashala is managed by Sengottai Religious and Charitable Trust (SRACT). We currently teach Krisna Yajur Veda and Shukla Yajur Veda. Our Students are from North and South india. Following the traditional Guru-Sishya Parampara system, Acharyas and Vidyartis stay at the patashala. Vidyartis are offered free shelter, food and education for the entire tenure of their stay. To support our patashala visit the support us page.

Understanding the importance of the role played by Samskritam education for Veda Dharma Samrakshanam, we have a sister institute, Sri Bharati Tirtha Samskrita Vidyalaya, who aim is to revive Samskritam language.

OURVISION

Our vision is to bring a resurgence in vedic and dharmic thinking in the society. We aim to provide all-rounded Vedic education to vidyartis (students) and become a center for the revival of ancient languages, Sanskrit and Tamil for the nearby towns.

OUR MISSION

We have a two-fold mission as mentioned below:

Sri Bharati Tirtha Veda Patashala:

  • Teach and propagate vedic knowledge and way of life
  • Teach through the ancient guru-sishya parampara system
  • Become a center for higher education in vedic and allied subjects such as vedanga, dharma shastra, upavedas, itihasa-puranas etc
  • Provide support and scholarships for vidyartis interested in higher specializations in the vedic field
  • Prepare students for successful life after graduation and integration with the society, by providing basic education in modern subjects such as english, mathematics, science etc

Sri Bharati Tirtha Vidyalaya:

  • Propagate Samskrtam through teaching spoken samskritam for the general public
  • Prepare our students for certificate exams such as Sringeri & Samskrita Bharati
  • Be a resource for Samskritam learning for Sengottai and other nearby towns.
  • Conduct conferences for language revival & propagation

OUR GOALS

Our goals for the coming years include:

  • Expand to include Rg veda patashala in addition to existing Krishna Yajur Veda and Shukla Yajur Veda patashalas
  • Conduct classes on Shadanga (six vedangas) for all students and acharyas along with the regular vedic studies
  • Recruit students for Ghanam paatam (higher studies) in Krishna and Shukla Yajur Veda
  • Create a residential program catered to young boys who are in mainstream education, to introduce them to vedic lifestyle
  • Build a Goshala
  • Build a library for patashala and other local students with many indic books

OUR STORY

We consider ourself extremely blessed to have the anugraham of With the blessings of Sringeri Jagadgurus, Sri Sri Mahasannidanam and Sri Sri Sannidanam. The Acharyas not only gave the building affiliated with sringeri sharadha matha in sengottai for our operations, but also gave us the name Sri Bharati Tirtha Veda patashala and selected the auspicious day to begin the patashala.

Here are the highlights of our first year (2018-19):

  • Two ganapatigals, Sri. Raghavan and Sri. Rohit Kulkarni, joined as Acharyas for Krishna Yajur Veda and Shukla Yajur Veda respectively
  • We had 15 students in total (8 Krishna Yajur Veda, 6 Shukla Yajur Veda and 1 senior student for Ghanam)
  • At the beginning of the year, samashti upanayanam was conducted for new student recruits
  • We began classes on other subject areas such as Yoga, Mathematics, Science, Tamil, English, Samskritam, Moral education, Bhajans etc.
  • We conducted a conference on Vedanga Parichaya (Introduction to vedanga) with the support of South Zone Cultural Center
